Treadwell & Rollo was retained to remediate contamination at Schlage’s historic San Francisco manufacturing plant, under the review and authority of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and the City and County of San Francisco.  The site will be rezoned mixed-use commercial and residential.

Our scientists and engineers performed soil, soil vapor and groundwater investigations, researched past industrial operations, investigated process areas and waste lines, and monitored air quality.   As Interim Remedial Measures, we excavated sumps and contaminated soil and designed and installed a soil vapor extraction system to remove volatile organic compounds.  We also performed quarterly groundwater monitoring, conducted Human Health Risk Assessments, and prepared Feasibility Studies/Remedial Action Plans for the Soil Operable Unit and the Groundwater Operable Unit.
