With soil, there aren’t always set material properties as with concrete or steel—you have to use judgment and experience and think outside of the box.
Cary thrives on the variety of challenges presented to her in each new project. Whether she's managing a geotechnical investigation for a 62-story high-rise like One Rincon Hill or a former landfill such as Oyster Point, her objective is to come up with a creative solution for her client according to the soil type and overall site conditions.
During the past 12 years since Cary has been with Treadwell & Rollo, she has gained an immense amount of experience directing subsurface investigations, designing and evaluating foundations systems, performing engineering analyses, and directing field personnel. Cary has also performed engineering analyses to determine settlement behavior of soil under loading, bearing capacity for shallow foundations, lateral and vertical capacity for deep foundations, and slope stability and seismic hazards including liquefaction potential.
What Cary likes most about her work is "the fact that you see results (a building) at the end of the day."
